How Much Sleep Do You Get Each Night?

Great discussion on exercise habits in the previous post.

It sounds like most people exercise in the morning and that a lot of people are early risers. Which leads to another question that would be great to hear people’s thoughts on: How much sleep do you tend to get each night? In your opinion, what is the best time to get up in the morning and the best time to go to bed at night?

I typically go to bed at 10pm on the weeknights and get up at 4:40am to go to the gym. This seems to work well for me.

I think I probably get more accomplished in the morning once I get going, but that always seems tough.

I’m usually going to bed around 11:30, and rising between 6:30 and 7:00

sorry, meant in bed around 11:30 “PM” not AM. Though that sounds like a wonderful vacation schedule

Since I train at 6am and class afterwords, I need a good meal at least an hour before I work out.

That means I get up at 4:30am and try to be in bed around 9.

Time to go to bed . . .

I usually turn in between 10 and 11 PM and get up between 5 and 6 AM. I find that six hours is not enough sleep to feel well the next day. Seven isn’t so bad. Eight is much better.

My goal is to be in bed by 10pm (rarely happens), and I’m up and out the door heading to the gym at 4:30am.

I also have a 3 month old and a 2 year old who wake up through the night and so I am rethinking my current system…

But I do love rising early as it’s an incredibly peaceful time of day, and I’m able to accomplish a lot while the phone’s not ringing, the emails aren’t pressing, and the kids are yet to rise.

I try to head up to bed by 9:30 at the latest. The alarm goes off at 4:45 and I am usually out of bed by 5:00.

in bed at 10pm and rise at 5:30am on a gym day. I have to get 7 hours of sleep or i can’t function.

non-gym days i usually get to bed at 11pm and wake close to 7am.
