    That’s great news. I am learning, though, that for certain things, I am better off waiting to talk to the person in person. It’s an easy way to be sure I won’t say something I’ll regret. We are so much more careful when talking face to face.

    Another way to handle this is to write out a letter (or type it), wait a day, and then mail it (or at least save an e-mail draft for a day).

    Finally, there is a scripture that comes to mind often for me. It’s from Proverbs. “In many words, sin is not absent.” The longer I ramble, the more likely I am to regret something I’ve said. So I try to keep it short.
